Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Sales & Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of at least four years in the electrical contracting industry and will bring an existing network of client contacts to drive business growth. This individual will be responsible for the full sales cycle, from generating leads and estimating project costs to developing proposals and closing deals. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and a “hunter” mentality to pursue new opportunities aggressively.
Key responsibilities
- Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial, industrial, or residential electrical market, leveraging an existing book of contacts.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with new and existing clients, including general contractors, facility managers, and property owners.
- Estimating and Proposals:
- Perform comprehensive take-offs from blueprints and specifications to determine all labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Develop and present clear, detailed, and competitive proposals and bid packages that meet customer needs.
- Project Management Collaboration: Work closely with the project management and field teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to execution.
- Reporting and Analysis: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, client interactions, and project details in a CRM system. Report on sales forecasts, pipeline status, and market trends.
- Market Awareness: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, electrical codes, and competitor activities.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and close deals to meet or exceed sales targets.
Required qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 4+ years of B2B sales and/or estimating experience in the electrical contracting or construction industry.
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and industry standards.
- Sales Skills:
- Proven ability to generate leads, develop a sales pipeline, and close deals.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
- Network: An established network of clients and contacts in the local market.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst) and CRM software is preferred.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, results-driven, highly organized, and team-oriented.
- Licensing: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
